Cadence McShane Selected as Design/Builder for AMB’s DFW Logistics – Building One
(New Development Located Near DFW International Airport to Provide Modern, Efficient Warehouse Capabilities)
(Dallas, Texas) – Neal L. Harper, President of Cadence McShane Corporation, is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected by developer, AMB Property Corporation, to complete DFW Logistics Center – Building One, a 113,640 square foot freight-forwarding facility located at Minters Chapel Road and North Airfield Drive in Grapevine, Texas. The new facility is located on an 8.1-acre site with convenient access to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The design/build team of Cadence McShane and project architect, Alliance Architects, Inc., will provide a November 2006 completion of the freight-forwarding center.
The single-story building features a 24’ clear height to accommodate the movement of bulk materials and packaged goods throughout the facility. Loading and unloading will be accomplished through 39 external truck docks. Cadence McShane will construct the facility of tiltwall panels accented with a GraniTex exterior treatment providing a natural exterior façade. Punched window systems and attractive storefront entries will highlight the multiple suites within the new facility. Cadence McShane will also complete all site landscaping and outdoor lighting and will provide 167 car parking spaces and ample trailer parking on the site.

Cadence McShane Completes 36,274 sf. Warehouse Facility for Harwood & Associates
(Dallas, Texas) – Neal L. Harper, President of Cadence McShane Corporation, is pleased to announce the completion of a new single-story, 36,274 square foot bulk storage warehouse on behalf of Virginia-based Harwood & Associates, developer for the project. The new facility is located on a 3.1-acre site at 8909 San Dario Avenue in Laredo, Texas. The single-user tenant of this new warehouse facility relocated from an existing rented space upon the building’s completion in late April 2006.
Cadence McShane constructed the 24’ clear height warehouse utilizing stained tilt-wall panels over a structural steel frame. The facility includes high-speed overhead doors for five exterior and two interior drive-thru doors. The truck maintenance area features a car lift, central vacuum system, paint spray booth and stainless steel casework. An office component was also completed that includes administrative areas and employee amenities including a full fitness center. Exterior features of the project include adjacent surface parking, landscaping throughout the site and a perimeter fencing system that provides security for the facility. A sophisticated interior and exterior building security system was also completed.

MDI Inc. General Contractors Wins National AGC Safety Excellence Award

(Irving, Texas – June 2006) MDI Inc. General Contractors was recently recognized by The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) as one of the nation’s top construction safety leaders who consistently exhibits outstanding safety practices. MDI received AGC’s Construction Safety Excellence Award with second place honors in the Building Division category for general contractors with 100,000 or less work hours at the National Convention held in Palm Springs, CA. “Winning this award for the second consecutive year means everything to our employees and subcontractors who work so hard to insure safe jobsites and injury-free personnel,” says Frank Pieschel, MDI President.
National AGC is comprised of 33,000 members including approximately 7,000 general contractors. MDI was selected locally by sacvenue judges last fall as the best safety program in their Building Division category. sacvenue then forwarded MDI’s application and written proposal as well as other Division category winners to National AGC judges. After undergoing a highly competitive national selection process, AGC selected MDI as one of three finalists to compete and make an oral presentation at the National Convention in their Division category. Winners were announced at the annual AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards Breakfast. Accepting the award on behalf of MDI’s employees included MDI President Frank Pieschel, project manager Todd Woodruff, field superintendent Randy McCord, and Letty Coleman in the estimating department. Other members of MDI’s Safety Committee include Randy Hubbard, Vice President of Operations and Risk Management, and Tracy Skelton, Vice President of Field Operations who is also the company’s Safety Director.

Cadence McShane awarded Multi-Building Assignment from Desoto Independent School District
(Dallas, Texas) – Neal L. Harper, President of Cadence McShane Corporation, is pleased to announce that the firm has been awarded a multi-building assignment on behalf of DeSoto Independent School District – its first assignment within this growing school district. The project includes renovations and additions to DeSoto High School and the construction of a new Middle School for 1,000 students in the southwest area of the District.
The Dallas office of Cadence McShane will construct the new 173,180 square foot Middle School with a two-story classroom wing housing 56 regular classrooms and nine science laboratories. Band and choir facilities will also be completed along with two art laboratory rooms. The new school will include a library, competition and auxiliary gymnasiums with weight room and locker rooms, food service facilities and administration offices. The grounds will feature a competition football field with a running track, and baseball fields, a practice field for football and soccer and six tennis courts. The Middle School will be completed in July 2007 to accommodate students for the 2007/2008 school year.
The assignment also includes the final phase of renovation work at DeSoto High School. Cadence McShane will streamline classroom space and student flow throughout the many additions that have been previously completed surrounding the original educational facility by updating existing corridors and stairways, classrooms, storage space and administrative space. Cadence McShane will also construct new classroom additions for health, science and culinary art. A front entrance and entry plaza with a covered walkway will be completed as well as upgrades to the auditorium sound and lighting systems. The exterior façade of the original building will be updated to complement the exteriors of the many additions.

SEDALCO Honored for Outstanding Construction
SEDALCO Construction Services of Fort Worth, Texas recently received an award for “Outstanding Construction” by sacvenue, a chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America, for its New Town Hall and Policy Facility project for the Town of Hickory Creek, Texas.
sacvenue’s awards program is designed to recognize publicly the quality and innovation of construction and to honor all the members of the construction team, including the contractor, the owner and the design team responsible for the project. The winning projects were selected from entries submitted from across the area and were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unusual challenges, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and budget.
The Hickory Creek New Town Hall and Police Facility Project is a multi-use facility that houses the Town administration, police department, community development, court services, and public works. The development of the overall floor plan design is based largely upon information and feedback from the staff employed with each of these departments, as well as the Town Officials and was programmed for a projected employee growth and functionality requirements to meet the Town needs for a minimum of ten years, with proposed separate building expansions for the Police Department and Public Works as a part of a ten year master plan.
This masterwork design/build contract was completed on schedule with no lost time accidents for a guaranteed maximum price. The Project Team consisted of the Town of Hickory Creek, Texas, which was established in 1963, Wigginton, Hooker & Jeffry, Architects of Dallas, Lee & Baldauf Engineers of Dallas, MD Engineering of Dallas, G&A Consultants of Dallas, ROC Construction, Dallas Concrete Contractors, Supreme Roofing, T&D Systems, Texas Quality Painting, North Central Plumbing, Daniels Air Conditioning, Genesis Fire Protection, and Bean Electric along with numerous other subcontractors and suppliers.
Cadence McShane Completes Renovation and Expansion Assignment for Dallas ISD
(Dallas, Texas) – Neal L. Harper, President of Cadence McShane Corporation, is pleased to announce the completion of the renovation and expansion assignment on behalf of Dallas Independent School District, as part of the District’s $1.37 billion bond program. Cadence McShane recently completed 218,922 square feet of renovations and 29,770 square feet of new classroom additions at W.T. White High School located at 4505 Ridgeside Drive and W.H. Gaston Middle School located at 9565 Mercer Drive, both in Dallas, Texas.
Cadence McShane constructed a new three-story classroom addition at W.T. White High School that includes 18 standard classrooms and one science laboratory classroom. The exterior of the new addition complements the existing façade. Cast stone trim was installed to emulate the existing precast stone panels utilized throughout the high school campus. In addition, renovations within the school included the replacement of the roofing system, technology infrastructure upgrades, mechanical, electrical and life safety system improvements and the renovation of the existing courtyards and landscaping.
At W.H. Gaston Middle School, Cadence McShane constructed a new two-story classroom addition that consists of 11 classrooms, one new science laboratory and a new library. Renovations included technology infrastructure upgrades and improved mechanical, electrical and life safety systems. Cadence McShane also reconfigured the existing library and adjacent classroom into four new classrooms. The exterior of the new Gaston Middle School addition incorporated brick and stone to match the existing façade of the middle school.
Austin Commercial provided program management for the project, and Jacobs and Associates served as project architect.
Cadence McShane Completes Two Industrial Facilities on Behalf of Majestic Realty Co.
(Over 290,000 S.F. of Industrial Space Available for Immediate Occupancy Near D/FW International Airport)
(Dallas, Texas) – Neal L. Harper, President of Cadence McShane Corporation, is pleased to announce the design/build completion of two speculative industrial facilities, a development of Majestic Realty Co., within the Park West Commerce Center in Coppell, Texas. The site is located at Airline Drive and Beltline Road in Coppell, Texas offering convenient proximity to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Due to its strategic location near the airport, the Park West Commerce Center offers a convenient location for freight forwarding and logistics companies seeking highly-efficient distribution operations.
Majestic Park West Building A, at 1025 Beltline Road, is a 153,000 square foot distribution facility and Majestic Park West Building B, at 1075 Beltline Road, offers 137,000 square feet. Both have been designed and constructed with a contemporary façade of painted tiltwall panels with natural stone veneer accents at the entryways to the buildings. Each building features a 28’ clear height and includes 47 truck docks efficiently configured to maximize warehouse and distribution operations.
Cadence McShane also completed all site landscaping including extensive plantings, exterior lighting and an automatic irrigation system. Hardy McCullah/MLM Architects, Inc. provided architectural services for the two-building assignment.
Ahern Rentals Opens the Largest High-Reach Equipment Rental Center in Tarrant County
Fort Worth, Texas – Ahern Rentals announces plans to hold an open house to celebrate its new location, now serving Fort Worth and the surrounding areas.

Cadence McShane to Construct Third Pre-Kindergarten Center for Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD
(New Pre-Kindergarten Center to Address Need within this Growing District)
(Dallas, Texas) – Neal L. Harper, President of Cadence McShane Corporation, is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected by Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District to construct a new 47,500 square foot Pre-Kindergarten Center. This Center represents the third within the District that provides educational opportunities for three, four- and five-year-old children. The new Center will be located on a 9.5-acre site at 2325 Heads Lane in Carrollton, Texas across from Mary Heads Carter Park. Cadence McShane, and project architect, Corgan Associates, Inc., will provide project completion by December 2006.
Cadence McShane will construct the new single-story facility with a steel frame structure and masonry exterior. The Center will include a welcoming reception area, 26 new classrooms, four special education areas, a cafeteria, a nurse’s clinic and administrative offices. Separate entrances for parents and school buses will provide efficient traffic flow for student drop-off and pick-up. An indoor play area and outdoor playground will also be constructed. Upon completion, the Pre-Kindergarten Center will open with a full-day class schedule. The new Center will provide the District with additional early childhood educational services to augment existing pre-kindergarten facilities at the Community Learning Center in Carrollton, Texas and the McLaughlin Annex in Farmers Branch, Texas.

Cadence McShane Selected to Construct Trammell Crow’s New 531,254 S.F. Industrial Facility
(Dallas, Texas) – Neal L. Harper, President of Cadence McShane Corporation, is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected by developer, Trammell Crow Company, to complete the first phase of development at Trammell Crow’s new I-20 Distribution Center, a cross-dock distribution center at the crossroads of I-20 and I-35 in Dallas, Texas.
The new 531,254 square foot I-20 Building One is located on a 30-acre site at the southeast corner of Hampton and Beckleymeade Roads. This assignment represents the first of a new multi-phased Trammell Crow development situated adjacent to the firm’s Stoneridge Business Park. Cadence McShane and project architect, Alliance Architects, Inc. will provide an October 2006 completion of the phase one development to coincide with the extension of Beckleymeade Road that will provide access to the new development.
Cadence McShane will construct the 30’ clear height facility utilizing a conventional steel frame with an exterior of painted tiltwall panels. Attractive metal canopies will accent both of the two-story entryways into the building. The facility will feature 100 external docks and four drive-in doors for a variety of single- or multi-tenant cross-dock distribution uses. Cadence McShane will provide 365 car parking spaces and ample trailer parking on the distribution center campus.
Gilbane Building Company’s Dallas/Fort Worth Office continues with its Growth Expansion Plans
GRAPEVINE, TX -- March 19, 2006 – Gilbane Building Company, a leading national construction management firm, has continued to grow in the local Dallas/Fort Worth marketplace with two key staff additions. Their district office, located in Grapevine, is part of the company’s Southwest Region. There two new additions were made to their team recently, adding to the already experienced and knowledgeable local employees. Gilbane Building Company Breaks Ground On New Garland Bass Pro Shop
GARLAND, TX – On Tuesday, February 7, construction began on the newest Bass Pro Shop retail store in Garland with a ground breaking celebration.
This 120,000-square-foot store will boast many of the signature features of Bass Pro Shops, not to mention a more than 8,000-square-foot Islamorada Fish Company restaurant and courtesy boat docks. This newest location is scheduled to open in October and will anchor the 28-acre Harbor Point Development; a retail/entertainment development located on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard.

Dallas Cowboys Select General Contractor for New Stadium
Strategic Alliance Brings Manhattan Construction together with local minority owned firms Rayco Construction and 3i Construction
The Dallas Cowboys announced today that Manhattan Construction Co., in a strategic alliance with local minority owned firms Rayco Construction and 3i Construction, has been selected as the general construction management team of the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium, to be built in Arlington in time for the 2009 NFL season.
This alliance, led by Manhattan Construction, brings together management from each of the three companies to direct the on-site construction of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. This group will direct the construction of a retractable-roof stadium designed by architect, HKS, with a capacity of up to 100,000 persons and featuring open end zones linked to fan decks and the latest in artificial turf systems. Restaurants, shops, and gathering places within the stadium venue will extend fan experiences to daylong events. In addition, the Cowboys Experience and Hall of Fame — an interactive, multi-faceted venue for community activities, fan experiences, and tourism — will be part of the entertainment complex.
Fort Worth Chapter of American Institute of Architects Honors AUI Contractors with 2005 Quality in Construction Award
FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 1, 2006) – AUI Contractors recently received the 2005 Quality in Construction Award from the Fort Worth Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). AUI executives Glenn Strother, Doug Alumbaugh and Tony Rader accepted the award at the chapter’s Honors and Awards Dinner on Jan. 24.
“AUI is pleased to join a small group of elite contractors that have won this award. Receiving this award proves that the architectural design community values our work. We take pride in our projects and the 300 people on the AUI team,” commented Alumbaugh, one of AUI’s founders.
AUI was spotlighted for construction excellence on major projects that included the Tarrant County Regional Water District headquarters completed in 2003 and the new AUI headquarters in Fort Worth, which was completed in 2004. Also recognized by AIA with an 2005 Excellence in Architectural Design Award was Greg Ibanez of Gideon Toal, an architectural firm based in Fort Worth. One of Ibanez’s designs includes the AUI headquarters facility, which earned a 2004 Merit Award from the AIA Fort Worth Chapter.
